Aloha from Mexico

We just got back from a week in Mexico. We were asked to join two friends at their timeshare in Playa Del Carmen, which is just south of Cancun. We had a great time, with the 80 degree weather and the beach. We even swam with the Dolphins and learned a lot about them. Here are a few of those tourist shots for you..

Tommy! I am SO JEALOUS! That looks like an AMAZING time! LOVE the grass hut and the WATER! YUM! So...tell me...did you, by chance, get a chance to taste any smoked marlin? YEARS ago, I was working w/a gentleman who went down to Mexico and caught a marlin and had the locals smoke it for him. He brought some back to share w/all of us at work. I couldn't stay away from the stuff, it tasted that GOOD! To this day, I haven't tasted any fish that even comes near to how durn DELICIOUS that was! It's a dream of mine to go down, someday, and try to find a way to either buy some or...catch one, myself! :-D

I would love to hear more about your trip (costs, etc.), offline, if you don't mind sharing.

LOVE your pictures; they're GREAT! Now, back to dealing with...WINTER! YUCK! :-(

Did you guys get done w/your addition, then?

"smoked marlin"

Gee, you have me there. I've never heard of it, so I guess to answer your question... no we didn't.

You seem to indicate that you can buy it here in the states, can you?

Ya, I'll send you an email off-line with some information. And yes, it was 80 degrees on the beach there and yesterday morning it was 18 degrees here UGH!!! :-(

Ron, I will post some Dolphin pictures in another post.

As far as the food goes, it kind of reforced that my favoriate food is not Mexican (even the real stuff). However, I did have a new drink called a Mango Tango, that's GREAT!!

I don't find any, offhand.

"Hi Tom and TC[Girl]...

I tell you what, Uncle Ron; it'll have you crying 'Uncle!' when you try it 'cuz you won't be able to keep away from it, when you get started. The kind I had was a bit dry but the smoked flavor was just perfect and I just wish I knew what flavor wood was used in the smoking process. It was absolutely the BEST thing I have ever tasted!

EXCELLENT, Uncle Ron! Too funny: I was even going to tell you that it was very dry but...it still tasted so darn good and...the flavor wasn't masked. It was AMAZING!!

"I don't know if either of you have ever tasted Lake Superior White Fish...but that's MY favorite..."

I think any piece of fish smoked would be YUMMY!! :-D

"I've never had it smoked though..."

Oh, man; well...then, you don't know what you've been missing! ;-)

"Maybe I'l send off for both..."

You should! Go for it! And it would be great to hear your feedback, afterwards! :-D

Sounds great! I bet it was FUN!!

Yeah. I'm w/you there, Tommy! I've always said this: that they just do meat, tortilla shells, and beans, differently. I just find it borrowing! :-(

The mango/tango, however; that sounds YUMMY!!
