WOW, some Wal-Mart commercial.

Friday, January 29, 2010

I haven't posted for several days and have been thinking about that. Currently I don't seem to have a brillent stroke of genius for you, but of course I will soon, I do however want to share a couple of pictures that I took of a dead tree in the yard in the snow. There's really something about them that I like.

The Supreme Court decision

My intent of this blog was not and continues not to be political. However I feel that I need to say something about the recent decision of the Supreme Court, opening the gates for corporations to give as much money to political races as they want to.

To me, I feel that we were just sold out. I have always held the court in the highest standards, but now I realize that it's for sale. This leaves me feeling very vaunerable and depressed. You see this decision means that now big business (big money) can decide who gets elected and who doesn't. This is not what the founders of this country wanted and I don't think that any normal thinking citizen would want this either.

It's interesting, when the corporation was first invented, it could not own anything, no property, nothing. That was changed with money. Now, the corporations can own the country. It might just be time to leave.

I ate the SpaghettiOs

Well, I finally got to enjoy those SpaghettiOs today! And, as you might guess they're exactly how I remember them from all those years ago. Just look at this picture, doesn't it make your mouth just salivate wishing that they were in your bowl. Actually, if you had that new computer interface called Smellanet then you'd be able to smell their wonderful aroma. Oh, it just doesn't get any better than this, as I good friend of mine often says...

A dreary morning

Good morning all. It's an overcast, cold day here in the northeast and I'm kind of feeling the same way. Yesterday my cold came back with a vengence, which I had thought had gone away. It's the kind of day that I'd just like to crawl back in bed under the flannel sheets and watch that 1951 classic Humphrey Bogart and Audrea Hepburn movie "The African Queen".

If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

Father and Daughter Share

I was reading my step-daughters blog today and came across an entry that I feel I need to share with you. It's written by a Dr. Wayne W. Dyer and it's a beautiful story of the sharing of things that you love between a father and his daughter. Thanks Bec.

More - SpaghettiOs creator dies

Well as promised, I went to the store today and bought a can of SpaghettiOs. I think that I'll skip having the Spam with them though, but at least I will honor the death of their creator by consuming a can of SpaghettiOs. Anyone care to join me in this celebration? Maybe we could create an annual event and maybe it would become a state and then maybe a national holiday. Can you imagine getting a day off of work so that you can be with your family eating SpaghettiOs. WOW, kind of brings tears to my eye just thinking about it.

Christmas carols on the Walkway

I was up on the Walkway the week before Christmas and along came some Vassar College students and they sang Christmas Carols. Of course, it was raining and that kind of put a damper (pun intended) on the moment. But, they were very good and we all had fun.

Please volunteer for the Walkway and join us. It really is very enjoyabe.

SpaghettiOs creator dies

Well, I don't know if anyone noticed this little item in the news yesterday, but it would seem that a childhood hero has passed. Of course as a child I never knew (or cared really) who had actually invented SpagettiOs, but we sure did like to eat them and eat them we did. I loved those little Os to death.

Anyway, we now know the "rest of the story" and can morn our great loss. ;-(

My Best Friend

Today while I was driving around a thought came to mind. One which comes to mind quite often, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

You see, I had this good friend that I worked with at big blue. After both of us had left the company our friendship continued in several ways. I started my computer consulting business and discovered that he had his own computer business as well. We soon started working a lot together. Actually he was a great mentor to me, helping me in any way that he could. Besides our business relationship we our friendship blossomed. When at big blue we were simply business associates but thereafter we became good friends.

Several years ago he developed a brain tumor and quickly started going downhill. After one of his episodes, I was driving him to an appointment and he said something to me that has made such an impact on my thinking about friendship and relationships. He told me that I was his best friend.

To that day, I had only had one friend that I would have called my best friend and that was when I was in high school. Since then there has just been no-one that I could truly trust and rely on to always be there for me, as well as I for them.

I think that Mike was the best and kindest person that I honestly have ever known. He would have taken his shirt off and given it to you while asking how many more you needed.

I really miss him and I guess that's why he comes to mind as often as he does. So is that a good thing or a bad thing, I'm really not sure..

Now, this is something that you just can't miss ;-)

Getting better

WOW, I'm finally getting better and can actually function today. Over the weekend I was down and out with a cold. Of course I had to go on a job on Saturday, but I left as soon as I could, went home and went to bed. It's interesting because I really don't get sick that often, but when I do it's like those germs have been saving up all their energy to fight and really make me miserable. ;-(

Oh well, as they always say and this to shall pass.

Comments not enabled

OOPs! I forgot to allow comments from anyone. I had it set, while testing, so that only members (me, myself and I) of this blog could post comments. Sorry about that.

Let us begin

Well, I need to start someplace so I decided to post a picture that I had taken a few years ago. It was early one morning and discovered this spiders web covered by the morning due. Fortunately I had my camera loaded with film and ready to go.

I really enjoy the detail in the dew drops and the design that was created.
