The Rose

Well, I watched The Rose staring Bette Midler last night. Memories... It was many years ago that I last saw it and it is still so great and so sad. I had forgotten the influence that her her manager had on her and all that he was looking out for was himself and the ever loving dollar, at her expence.

Here's Bette singing the song.

Hi, Tommy...

Yeah...I keep forgetting to rent that movie! I watched 'Beaches,' recently, and forgot how sad that was, as well! :-( I asked my favorite 'Gooroo' (Google! :-) what movie Bette is in that is FUNNY (because she's a SCREAM!) and got 'What Women Want' (but she's WAY down on the credits and...it says "uncredited," for some odd reason! Not even sure I know what that means, yet. Will need to find out.) out of that one; so...perhaps, I'll do a double movie night to even things out, after watching 'The Rose.' I vaguely remember the scenario that you describe, now. Doesn't seem to be too far off the mark for MANY managers! :-(

I wonder if we'll be seeing similar type stuff re: Amy Winehouse. Such a shame! Like watching a train wreck that was! Wondering why NO ONE seems to be able to intervene in these horrible things! SO SAD! :-(
