This blog contains the random thoughts of a guy named Tommy. We'll share thoughts on writing, photography and anything else I want, because it's my blog and not yours.
“If you think you’re too small to have an impact, try going to bed with a mosquito in the room”.-- Anita Roddick
TOO FUNNY, Tommy! I was actually hoping that the trailer edition was going to work out...as FUNNY as that whole thing was! :-D The buffet car was a HOOT! Oh and...the 'Scum Class' and airy "restroom," as well! What NUTS! :-D Gives you a whole new appreciation for the real thing, though, doesn't it? How the things don't shake everything on the floor as was experienced on this trip.
Ya TC, it does put things into perspective. Last year we took the train to Florida and had what we thought was a bad experience. We went down in coach and after that bought a room for the return trip ($500 well spent). However, a ride on this train (aka. the scum class) really made our trip into something wonderful.. :-)
I've always wanted to do a train trip across Canada...up high in those cool windowed trains; and...a sleeping car, for night time! Just wish they would stop for the night; I don't want to miss a thing and...I LOVE trains! :-D
TC, you're right on about the train through Canada. One reason we took the train to Florida was as an experiment, to see if we would like traveling by train or not. Some people love it and some people hate it. Anyway, one big problem with our trip was that the tracks are owned by CSX and are mainly used for freight. We had to pull over so that the freight trains could get by and the tracks are not in real smooth condition.
We're trying to figure out what that experience would be going across Canada, which we'd love to do and then continue by ship up into Alaska.
I wonder if there might be anyone reading this that has taken the trip actoss Canada and can make some comments on their experience. I'd love to hear from you.
